The decision of whether or not to undergo fetal reduction is a difficult and painful one. For many couples, achieving a pregnancy has been a long struggle with a high emotional and financial price tag. The decision to reduce seems opposite to the goal of conception. For this reason, it is helpful to get some objective guidance, based on a woman's obstetric and medical histories, her physical characteristics, lifestyle, and diet. No one can guarantee a perfect outcome of healthy babies born at term, but based on what we currently know about risk factors, your chances of a better outcome can be improved if all the factors are weighed. In this consultation I will ask you a variety of questions, and best advise you regarding reduction. You will complete a confidential Health History, Lifestyle, and Diet Questionnaire. Based on your answers, I will design your own website, with pages for:
- My Profile, listing all of your unique facts and figures
- My Pluses, a summary of factors having a positive influence on your pregnancy
- My Diet Plans, with my suggestions and recommendations
- My Weight Gain, outlining the optimal pattern of weight gain based on your height, pre-pregnancy weight, and the number of babies you are carrying (singleton, twins, triplets, or quads).
In addition to the assessments described above, I will outline the risks for prematurity and other complications, with and without reduction, in your specific case. Each of these web pages is printable, so you will have your own custom-made set of guidelines to help you have the healthiest pregnancy possible. The cost for this one-time service is $50.
